Our Fall Tradition.....

Here we are another year has past since THIS day at afton apple orchard...

and yes, of course we went AGAIN this year...
We have went to afton apple orchard every year since Trevor was a baby! It is just our tradition......

I do not know HOW many more years we will go there.... their prices for gate fees keep going up.... when we first went it was $2 for anyone 5+ and free for those under... then $2 for anyone 5+ and $1 for 4 under, NOW it is $3 for anyone 5+ and $2 for 4 under.... OUCH, $17 just to get in the gate.... that is the cost of a bag of apples..... BUT THEY did have lots of fun!!!!!!!

BIG DAY YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Not ONLY was it Shayla's 6th BIRTHDAY!!! (happy birthday baby girl!!!!!!!!!!!) But it was also the first day of school!!!!! Shayla entered Kindergarden, Lucas entered 2nd grade, and Trevor (gosh where did the years go?) entered 4th grade..... UGH, is that middle school knocking at my door...??? TELL IT TO GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, I just love taking picture of the kids the first day of school, standing at the front door, to see how much they have grown!!!!!!!

It is AMAZING to look back and see... When you live with them and see them daily, it is hard to notice... until they stand right by you and all of the sudden, your oldest child is taller than your shoulder..... STOP GROWN ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(not that much growth over last year.... You can tell because he is wearing the SAME SHORTS.....)

(From Eyes to mouth!)

(is it me, or did she grown a 1/2 of a foot????)

WELL, here is wishing my children a wonderful school year, as they begin another new adventure!!!!!!!!

What did you do this past weekend???

SOOO, it was my very first WHOLE WEEKEND OFF OF WORK! WHY, because I LOST MY JOB... remember from a few posts way back when???? Remember that I would be JOB LESS after the 1st of the year..... well, here it is..... ME, JOBLESS!
So, for fun, I gave the kids to my mom for friday night (she brought them to my sisters Saturday Morning) and me and my hubby had a few drinks and played scrabble all night! Then on Saturday we headed to the Science Museum of MN.... to do the CSI exibit... which was not as great as we thought it would be. BUT we had fun hanging out..... we then picked up Pizza's and had supper at my sisters house... it was fun! The NOT so fun part was driving home in the Ice STORM, but we made it!
Yesterday was chilly, but We sent the kids outside and then got the itch to head out there ourselves! SOOO this is what we did in the cold tundra AKA: backyard! (Kaylin in the shadown in the sled behind Lucas in the green coat... Shayla and Trevor are at the bottom of the SMALL hill!)

And afterwards, we (except for the hubby who can't stand it) drank homemade hot chocolate!

Halloween FUN!

So here is what my children ended up looking like before we headed out to trick or treat!!!

Aren't they CUTE!!!????

And for Supper, here is our Halloween supper!

Bones and Blood
(Parmesan flat bread and sauce)

Brains in a Skull
(mashed potatoes in a Cabbage Leaf)

Frankenstiens Guts
(Canned meat)

It was the best I could come up with because I procrastinated until yesterday... maybe next year I will brainstorm further in advance!

Of course, my kids scored lots of candy even though we only hit maybe 15 houses or so in our old neighborhood (where we both grew up!) I made them pool it all together this morning and then kept only the chocolate and some WHITE boes that the inlaws gave them.... The rest is heading to my work with me today (the tootsie rolls are going too since they have TRANS FATS in them... OUCH, they used to be my favorite candy!) Only my 6 yr old is upset at the candy leaving... the others (except the 2 yr old who could care less) know that it is for their own good! NOW to find out what is in a butterfinger!

OUR FALL TRADITION....

Every year since our oldest was little, we have gone to a place called AFTON APPLE! We usually pick some apples (which we didn't this year since we decided to pick raspberries instead!) WE always take a photo of the kids by this sign.... (it is fun to see how they have grown) and we take a Hay Ride around the orchard! My Husband actually worked in the orchard when he was MUCH younger, so it is very fun for him to go back year after year to see how much they have expanded and grown!

Do you have any YEARLY FALL traditions that you ALWAYS do????
